BIS Mark Certification for an Export-Led Surgical Gown Manufacturer
A leading exporter of surgical disposables needed BIS Mark for SMS surgical gowns to qualify for central PSU and government hospital tenders in India.
GPC Medical exports surgical gowns and disposables to over 35 countries. To complement its export business, GPC wanted to participate in domestic government hospital tenders — most of which mandate BIS-marked SMS fabric gowns. Without a valid BIS Mark, the company was excluded from significant central PSU procurement.
Mapping the right IS code across multiple GSM variants of SMS fabric gowns, scoping a phased in-house lab upgrade, coordinating sample testing at a BIS-recognised lab, and preparing the factory for the BIS officer audit — all within a single fiscal quarter window.
BMS ran a focused engagement: IS-mapping for the SMS gown range, a phased in-house lab gap-fill, BIS Scheme-I application drafting and filing, sample test cycle management, and a mock factory audit followed by the live BIS officer visit.
BIS Mark licence granted in 76 days from kickoff. GPC was eligible for three central PSU tenders in the same fiscal quarter — and onboarded one new central-government supply contract within 60 days of grant.
